Following the Prime Minister's statement on 22nd Feb, and the announcement from the BCGA (Click here to view) on the 22nd February, bowling will re-commence on our green from 29th March (assuming it has been cut). Anyone wishing to play a friendly will still need to book a slot as per last year., using the booking form on the Green Booking Tab.
With regard to League games, we are awaiting confirmation from the various leagues as to how and when they will start, we will keep you informed of any news as and when it happens. Assuming league bowling will take place there will be no need to pre-book, as the captains will maintain a record of those persons playing/present.
To all 2020 members of Wrenthorpe Bowling Club.
As you are all aware, we were unable to hold our AGM, as planned, on Monday, January 25th 2021 and, as there is little to report or discuss, a web-based AGM does not seem to be necessary.
We are suggesting that we continue with the same officials and team captains for this coming year as were elected at the AGM held on January 20th 2020.
Having spoken to all members, we will be entering two teams in both Workshops and Vets Leagues, one team in the Saturday League and, as agreed at the last AGM, we will enter two teams in the Ossett and Horbury League, the 'B' team to be captained by John Scholey. This is on the assumption that some League bowling might take place this coming season.
Even if League bowling does not take place, it is hoped that we will be able to bowl socially on our own green. As soon as we know that this is allowed and that the green is ready, we will let you know. Information will also be made available via the Wrenthorpe Bowling Club website - wrenthorpebowls.weebly.com
Eric has produced a Financial Statement for 2020 and, although this shows a loss of £41-99, the fees paid to the Vets and Workshops Leagues will be carried forward to this season while the fees paid to Yorkshire CGBA are to be reduced for this season. No green maintenance charges have, as yet, been made by Wakefield MDC for last season.
Membership fees will remain the same as last year - £15 for adults; £10 for over 60s, children and the long-term sick; free for over 80s. Fees will be collected once bowling resumes.
If anyone has questions or is not happy with anything, please let us know, otherwise we will take it as being accepted unanimously.
From the Club Officials
