Club competitions are held every year, generally a sheet is posted on the notice board at the start of season for people to enter, the sheet is taken down after the pairs competition day on the second Sunday in June, and the draw and handicapping is done. The draw is then published - either on the notice board or a copy given to each participant. Players are required to arrange their own matches amongst themselves and rounds should be played down to the final by the end of August. All finals including the pairs will be played on finals day which is the second Sunday in September. Finals day will include lunch and a friendly competition for all present.
St. Annes Cup - Club Handicap
The St. Annes cup was donated to the club in its' early years by the Rev Michael Bates, who had found the cup at the back of St. Annes Church safe, it appears that some years ago there had been a bowling green at the back of the Church (now housing on Bowling Avenue) and this cup must have been a left over from then.
The competition is open to all members and is handicapped based on ability and experience, so hopefully everyone has an equal chance of winning.
